Step 3: How we created this website
Hi there,
The Third Place Blog: Step 3: How we created this website
Let’s start with an update.
- We don’t have a location yet, but if we estimate that it will take us about 3 months to find, our planned opening date will be in May of 2015.
- As of today, our Twitter has 7,610 followers, our Facebook page has 1,049 likes, and our Instagram has 2,622 followers!
- In November our website was visited 3,424 times (that’s about 114 visits a day!). 86% increase from the month of October.
Thank you for all your support!
Are you still wondering how we created this website and how you can make one for yourself or your business? If you had never created a website before, keep reading. If you have, you may want to skip ahead.
The easiest way is to use WIX and build websites visually. You won’t have enough flexibility, but your website can be up and running in a matter of a few hours. Once again, be ready for compromises.
Alternatively you can use WordPress. More complicated way, but much more flexible That’s what we choose. You can start from watching this (1 hour) video:
Now, you can follow his steps, BUT with a different WordPress theme.
Alternatively you can hire a freelancer to create a website for you.
PS: Our articles are not going deep into any topic, but as we help you notice the tips of these icebergs in the sea of business, you can go learn, explore and achieve on your own! You can find more details articles to read about creating websites at: Inc., Entrepreneur.com & NY Times.
PPS: We just found a great daily podcast that we cannot stop listening – Entrepreneur on Fire.
I recently created a website on wordpress, and it was one of the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I was not very high tech and didn’t understand the lingo etc. But after several days with a wordpress for dummies book I finally prevailed. When my husband saw how much fun I was having with my blog, he asked me to create one for him too. This time it was a cinch. I’ve learned so much from getting out of my comfort zone, and discovered I’m smarter than I thought I was. Starting a website is not unlike starting a business, you are swimming in deep water, until one day you realize that you aren’t. Learning and growing is never easy, but highly satisfying
Getting outside of your comfort zone is essential to growth! Glad to hear you’re loving WordPress as much as we are. Good luck with your blog!
